Here in Arizona, families have the ability to choose among district and charter public schools, where they feel their children will get the best education. Charter schools are open-enrollment, tuition-free, public schools that operate based on a contract with their authorizer. Ball Charter Schools provides parents and students an alternative to traditional public school systems. We have high expectations and standards that value the school-home partnership as essential for student success.

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is the period prior to the start of each school year when parents/guardians can complete an application for each child to their desired school(s). Open enrollment dates for the upcoming school year will be November 9, 2020 - January 22, 2021. Applications received after the Open Enrollment period will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Required Documentation for Enrollment

Enrollment application packets may be completed and brought at any time to the registrar during the current school year. Parents should complete the process by submitting a complete enrollment packet and presenting a birth certificate (original or certified copy), proof of residency and proof of immunizations.

Ball Charter Schools may limit admissions based on age group or grade level, but will not limit admission based on ethnicity, national origin, gender, income level, disabling condition, or proficiency in English.
Entry of eligible students into any Ball Charter School is based on space availability. Preference for any available openings will be given to returning students and siblings of students currently enrolled at Ball Charter Schools and the children of staff and Board members.

Welcome to the Home of the Vipers!

I have been the proud principal of Val Vista Academy since 2017. Prior to that, I was lucky to have been the assistant principal of our BCS sister-school, Dobson Academy, since 2014. Being the principal here is second only to my proudest title of “Mom” to my adult children.

I started teaching in 1997, and would ultimately earn my Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2012. I didn’t set out to be a principal. Fate took me down a path I didn’t anticipate, and I’m so thankful. I love this job and I look forward to being with my fellow Vipers every day!

When you visit our campus, I hope you feel the sense of community. I hope you see students who are actively engaged in rigorous learning. I hope you notice the accomplishments of our students through the banners, plaques, certificates, and trophies that we proudly display. I hope you see staff who love their jobs and love working with students. Above all, I hope you recognize the well-rounded environment we provide to our students.

If you are already a member of our Viper Family, thank you for entrusting us with your children and for your support of VVA. If you’re not part of our school yet, I encourage you to come see for yourself what Val Vista Academy and Ball Charter Schools are all about:

. . . a personalized education to all students emphasizing comprehensive academic excellence in a safe, nurturing environment through partnering parents, students and staff.

I look forward to seeing you on campus soon!
